Local Highways Initiative Update
Stukeley Parish Council continues to monitor progress on several key highways and infrastructure improvements across the parish.
Local Highways Initiative (LHI)
The Clerk reported that she has followed up with Cambridgeshire County Council, regarding the Council’s ongoing LHI scheme (Church Way/Ermine Street junction at the southern gateway to Great Stukeley). They have confirmed that the County Council is still awaiting designer allocation dates, which are required before design work can commence. Unfortunately, there has been a delay in this allocation due to current workload pressures within the design team. They have assured that an update will be provided to the Parish Council as soon as possible.
Huntingdon to Alconbury Weald Active Travel Shared-Use Facility
Construction of the new shared-use footway and cycleway between Huntingdon and Alconbury Weald began on Monday 1st June. Initial works will focus on establishing the contractor’s compound within the former Three Horseshoes pub car park and carrying out early investigation works. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation to support these investigations, beginning with the section between Mill Road and Church Way in Little Stukeley. Weekly updates will be issued by Cambridgeshire County Council to confirm specific areas of work as the scheme progresses. Letters notifying residents along Ermine
Street were distributed last week.
